ALABAMA BOUND is heading to The New York International Fringe Festival, aka FringeNYC 2013!! Our one-woman play will join 200 other shows, selected from more than 800 submissions, for this amazing celebration of theater and performance that runs from August 9 through August 25 in Manhattan.  ALABAMA BOUND’s New York premiere follows sold-out runs in San Francisco and Sacramento, California.

In ALABAMA BOUND one woman becomes five different women as she tells the stories of Dixie, a  raucous, boozy 9-1-1 dispatcher whose much-awaited vacation is interrupted by a desperate call from a child; Miss Evelyn, a wry 83-year-old resident of the Garden of Eden Convalescent home whose long-buried family secret is finally unearthed; Loretta, a housewife stealthily protecting her limited domain from her tyrannical mother-in-law; Alice, a young beautician at an elite department who crashes a socialite’s fund-raiser; and Dominique, an inmate at Cheehaw State Prison for Women who believes she was born under an unlucky star.

In the five vignettes, actress Linda Nalbandian tells these memorable women’s stories with a “wicked wit and a drawl like molasses peppered with yellow jackets.”  ALABAMA BOUND also features powerful black and white portraits of Alabama women from all walks of life that are shown in slides.  The photos were taken by internationally recognized photographer Eileen Lewis.
